I’m having an issue with the ‘What’s My Name’ app and need help ASAP. The app isn’t working as expected, and I’m unsure how to fix it. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice or fixes?
Ugh, this app. Let me tell you, I had my own little rage-inducing saga with ‘What’s My Name.’ Same story, it just stopped working properly one day. Kept crashing or wouldn’t load any names—like, HELLO, that’s literally its one job. I tried restarting my phone because, you know, that’s the universal tech genius move. No luck. Then, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice, which sort of worked for 10 minutes before it went back to being useless. Honestly, at one point, I questioned my entire existence like, ‘Is this app broken, or am I broken?’
Anyway, I Googled around, and some people suggested clearing the cache. Yeah, didn’t even know this app had a cache. So, I went into settings, found the app, cleared the cache AND the data. Boom—clean slate. Finally worked again… until it didn’t two days later. Apparently, there’s some bug that the developers are aware of? (shocker) Check if you’re on the latest version because sometimes apps just love to gaslight you until you update.
If it’s still acting up after all that, well, I guess you could just yell “What’s my name?” into the void and see if Siri or Alexa pities you instead. Better luck than relying on this glitchy nonsense.
Omg, I feel like every app has that one moment where it decides you’re not allowed to have peace. ‘What’s My Name’ seems to be throwing its tantrum with a LOT of folks lately if forums are any clue. So yeah, kinda seconding parts of what @viaggiatoresolare said (though clearing cache never worked for me either—love that for them).
Here’s the thing: I thought the crashes were on me until I realized my phone’s OS needed an update. Apparently, some apps freak out when the system’s not aligned with the latest software—another fun quirk of modern tech. So, check for updates both ways, not just the app.
Buuut if it’s still flopping after updates and an exorcism (jk), maybe try ditching the app temporarily and using a similar one? I know, total betrayal vibes, but sanity > loyalty. Also, if this is a bug they know about (as seems likely), harass the developers with emails. Seriously, if they know we’re mad, maybe they’ll stop sipping coffee and fix it faster. Or, IDK, roll out an email that at least pretends they’re jumping on it. Classic, right?
Meanwhile, if nothing works, DIY it with pen-and-paper and go old school. Sometimes feels better than depending on tech that decides to spontaneously combust.
