Is anyone having issues with Slidesgo templates?

Has anyone experienced problems using Slidesgo templates recently? I’m trying to edit a presentation, and some elements won’t adjust or resize properly. Any tips or fixes?

Oh, you’re trying to adjust Slidesgo templates? Yeah, welcome to the VIP club of frustration. For some reason, they’re like, “Let’s make everything look pretty but impossible to touch.” Half the time, those elements are locked or grouped together in ways that scream “don’t mess with me.” Try right-clicking and ungrouping the stuff you can. If that doesn’t work, check if some layers or objects are set to “Master Slide” – they love hiding them there for no reason. You’ll need to edit that by going into the “View” tab and then into “Slide Master.”

Also, if you’re using PowerPoint/Google Slides, congrats, you’re probably playing which-version-of-this-program-breaks-next. Google Slides hates anything remotely complex, and PowerPoint occasionally glitches for the heck of it. sigh If resizing still doesn’t work, consider copying the troublesome elements into Paint (yes, I’m serious) and giving them a “makeover” before bringing them back. Ridiculous? Yes. Effective? Also yes.

And if none of that works? Scrap it. Use Canva or scream into the void—whatever feels more productive.

Slidesgo templates – oh, the joy. I feel your pain. There’s something about these “plug-and-play” designs that’s more like “plug-and-pray,” right? So, if resizing and editing feel like wrestling with an octopus, here’s a few extra tricks beyond what @yozora already mentioned (though their Paint workaround? Bold move, lol):

  1. Duplicate slides and experiment: Sometimes, it’s easier to work on a duplicated version when one won’t budge. Delete other elements around it and see if you’re able to move/resize freely.

  2. Check overlays or hidden shapes: Some Slidesgo templates layer transparent boxes over elements to “lock” them in, especially with fancy designs. Click around in weird spots to see if you can select anything invisible.

  3. Recreate the problem part: When something refuses to play nice, I’ve literally just recreated that pesky design element—text boxes, shapes, images, etc. Sometimes it’s less trouble to start fresh than to deal with Slidesgo’s passive-aggressive grouping.

  4. Switch to simpler fonts: If text resizing isn’t working as expected, try using a basic font instead. Weirdly, Slidesgo loves tossing complex, sometimes glitchy typefaces into their templates.

  5. Export slide elements as images: Export the slide (or the objects you CAN adjust) as an image and re-import it. It’s a hack, but it often gets rid of whatever strange formatting barriers were lurking before.

To disagree a bit with @yozora – instead of diving straight into “Slide Master” (which can feel unnecessarily intimidating), I’d test adjustments outside of it FIRST. Most of the time, you can ungroup and fix things in the regular slide view without THAT drama.

Also, don’t fully give up on Slidesgo just yet. Canva is great, sure, but Adobe Express or even Envato Elements can sometimes satisfy your inner perfectionist in ways Slidesgo refuses. Wouldn’t it be nice if design tools just… worked?
